subject vs object, 2012

Subject vs Object is a play on duality and identity. It questions the relationship between dichotomies such as master and slave, freedom and control, tool and user. These concepts are analyzed through sculptural work, video, and paintings that are both figurative and representational.

Les Autocrates; concept (excerpt), 2012. Video. Dur: 3 mins

Intended to be viewed through a peephole by standing underneath a precariously suspended box (Reliquary for Thought), "Les Autocrates" (The Autocrats) portrays silhouettes of characters in formation. It is a mnemonic skit that aims to remind viewers of the idea of being vulnerable to the spectacle, reality vs. drama, and political theatrics...in such a way that the image projected is a reality.
